The school has clearly stated academic goals, a clearly defined core curriculum and a pleasant safe environment. Teaching is innovative and student-centered. The mission of Silver Oaks is to inculcate in each student a love of learning, effective time management and study skills in an exciting atmosphere through a participatory, hands-on approach. Concepts are investigated; critical thinking is emphasized. Class organization comprises pair work, group work, individual work and lockstep instruction. Children are given teaching roles. They are encouraged to ask questions about interesting phenomena and events and then engage in research and collection of evidence to find answers to those questions. Students are participants in the teaching-learning process. Through curricular and co-curricular activities effective communication skills are developed. Audio visual aids, models, charts, flash cards, video, O.H.P. / computers are used to promote understanding.
